Introducing a seamless ride-sharing experience integrated directly into the Tesla ecosystem. Leveraging drivers' data and a dedicated user interface within the existing mobile app and car dashboard, this feature transforms how Tesla drivers share and find rides.
Key Features:
Integrated Notifications: View incoming ride requests directly on the car dashboard.
Smart Recommendations: Directed to relevant places based on driver profiles.
Efficient Communication: Includes VOIP calls and messaging for easy coordination.
Automatic Trip Adjustments: Trips are modified to pick up passengers efficiently.
This feature enhances the Tesla community, improves user experience, and introduces a new revenue stream, making it almost instantly revolutionary.
In developing Tesla's ride-sharing feature, my focus is on creating a seamless, user-friendly experience for drivers. Here’s how I approached the UX design:
Integration and Accessibility: I ensured the ride-sharing feature is seamlessly integrated into both the car's dashboard and the existing mobile app. This allows drivers to access ride requests and relevant information without distraction.
Immediate Notifications: I implemented a system where incoming ride requests are highlighted with an orange circle on the dashboard. This lets drivers view and accept requests with a single touch, minimizing the need for extensive interaction and keeping their focus on the road.
Smart Navigation and Recommendations: By leveraging driver profiles, I designed the system to provide smart recommendations, directing users to the most relevant locations based on their habits and preferences.
Efficient Communication: The feature includes built-in VOIP calls and an integrated messaging system. This allows drivers and passengers to communicate and coordinate details easily, enhancing the overall ride-sharing experience.
Automatic Trip Adjustments: Once a ride is accepted, the driver’s route is automatically updated to include the passenger’s pickup location, ensuring efficiency and convenience.
Revenue forecast
The financial impact of this feature is substantial, transforming a $400,000 development cost into a projected $41 million net revenue in the first year. Here’s how I envision it:
User Base: With 4 million Teslas currently on the road, there is a significant potential user base for the ride-sharing feature.
Average Ride Revenue: Assuming an average ride cost of $20, with Tesla taking a 10% commission, each shared ride generates $2 in revenue.
Usage Rate: Even with a conservative estimate of 10% of Tesla drivers using the ride-sharing feature once a week, this translates to 400,000 rides per week.
Annual Revenue: At this rate, the weekly revenue would be $800,000, leading to an annual revenue of approximately $41 million.
